Long Hot Summer Zoo

Long Hot Summer

It’s been extraordinarily hot this summer and it seems as though it isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

If you are coming to the Zoo, please visit as early in the day as possible to see the animals before they seek out the cooler, more hidden areas of their exhibits.

Our dedicated staff provides the animals with various ways and opportunities to stay cool in this heat.

For some species, this means providing them access to their holding barns.  These animals have the choice to come and go from their barns.  All the animals will seek out the coolest parts of their exhibit during the heat of the day.

Look for animals in the shade and shadows of their exhibits, nestled down in the cooler grass, and don’t forget to check out the reptile house where it is always cool in the summer and warmer in the winter.
